Hello, just a little introduction to me and how I work. I am an artist and mother of two living in Hebden Bridge. I’m able offer support within a 20 mile radius, including areas of West Yorkshire like Huddersfield, Wakefield, Bradford, Calderdale, parts of Leeds, and parts of East Lancashire like Burnley, Nelson and Colne. I am happy to also offer support online and by phone or text.

I am a member of End of Life Doula UK and am working towards my diploma with Living Well Dying Well.

First and foremost, I can offer my presence, my listening, my heartfelt support and compassion. I see simply ‘being-with’ and walking alongside individuals and families as my main role as an End of Life Doula.

I believe it is important that everyone should be able to access the support they need at the end of their lives. This can look different for everyone so I would always respond to each individual situation without assumptions about what is ‘right’ or thinking that I know best. I’m really happy to help with anything from advance planning to any household or practical tasks, whatever might make life easier for you at this time.

I love how things like art, music and poetry can offer us healing, connection and comfort. I can support individuals and families with any creative activities or projects they already have in mind, or I can help think about how these things might be useful and relevant.

I am a trained Mindfulness Teacher and can offer meditation, guided visualisation and relaxation techniques as tools to help deal with stress and discomfort. I come from a Quaker background, I’ve studied the world’s religions, and have spent time living in community with both Buddhists and Quakers. I have a deep respect and openness to people of all faiths and none.

I come to this work from my own experience of supporting my mum, many years ago, to die at home. She had a beautiful, peaceful death and we continued to care for her at home after she died - it was a very healing thing to be able to do.

I love nature and I am very interested in how we can be more in harmony with nature in our lives, including how we die and take care of our dead. As an artist, I have begun to make shrouds, as a soft, less-boxy, eco friendly alternative to a coffin.

I offer grief circles and retreats in my local community and I regularly organise and take part in local death cafe and other death and dying related events. Click here for upcoming events.

I’d be more than happy to discuss any of this and explore together how I might support you. I do charge for my time as this is my job, but the initial conversation and 30 minute meeting is free of charge. Funded support may be available according to need.
